Doctor Lee Picariello is redefining local athletics. For the first time in Lower Bucks County, high school athletes have an opportunity to unlock the true potential of their minds. Dr. Picariello and his team of Mindful Athlete Trainers have developed a comprehensive sports lab to help build and strengthen what they believe is an athlete’s most important muscle, their mind.
“Doctor Pic” as his clients call him, takes athletes who step into the Newtown based lab through a series of “mindful exercises.” By measuring heart rate, brain waves, and conducting mental circuits to connect the mind and body, Doctor Picariello is creating entirely unique athletic approaches.
Doctor Picariello ultimately wants athletes in the “zone.” Picariello describes the zone as, “the optimal place of peak performance that the mind and the body are synchronized with the least amount of conscious effort.”
A Picariello athlete who understands the “zone” is Villanova baseball commit Jeffrey Manto. Manto credits Doctor Picariello for taking his game to the next level. “The breathing exercises Doctor Pic taught me brought me to another place… It made me feel more confident.” Manto also described what it felt like being in the zone. “My bat is quicker… the ball comes in slower…. My entire game feels more controlled.”
The center is garnering so much local attention; even the legendary Merrill Reese decided to pay the lab a visit. Reese had this takeaway thought from his experience, “Mindful Athlete Training is a unique initiative to help athletes at every competitive level.”
Doctor Picariello not only recognizes he’s changing the way athletes approach sports, he understands his business is benefiting the community. “We’ve impacted Bucks County Sports because we represent the next level of training that is quantifiable…We are the only program in Lower Bucks County that has a standardized training program… We are setting the market in this capacity.”
