Hightstown continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, this time against cross-town rival Robbinsville, extending their win-streak to four games. For the Rams, it improves their overall record to 8-5 while also putting their head coach, Don DeLeo, one career win away from the century mark. Hightstown, now 3-1 in the CVC-Colonial division, used a full team effort in the victory but were led by Jason Whitlock’s 16 points. The junior wing was ready for a premiere matchup with Robbinsville big-man Tyler Bunnell, holding the Ravens leading scorer to 13 points and affecting a number of high percentage looks.

Playing another large role in the win for the Rams was newcomer and senior Brett Carter. The six-foot-nine-inch wing provided valuable spacing and shooting on offense and was the ultimate rim protector with three blocks on the night. Carter and Whitlock used their length and size to their advantage, turning defense into offense, and growing their lead to as many as 13 before a Robbinsville timeout.

In the second half Robbinsville came out on a 7-2 run to make it a six-point game, however that would be as close as they would come. Hightstown’s ability to hit open threes ultimately was the difference, as Robbinsville had several multi-minute scoring droughts and struggled to connect from three-point range.

With the win for Hightstown they match a previous four game losing streak, now riding a four-game win streak as they prepare to host Trenton on Thursday night at 7:00. For Robbinsville, the loss drops them to 6-7 on the year and 1-3 in CVC Colonial play. The Ravens have lost six of their last seven heading into a meeting with Princeton on Thursday.

Don DeLeo goes for career victory number 100 on Thursday against Trenton, you can catch that game live on WBCB Sports YouTube Page, with the Trentonian Pre-Game Show beginning tentatively at 6:45.
