ROBBINSVILLE, NJ. – A meeting between two teams each holding just one loss on the season and both jockeying for first place on their respective sides of the Colonial Valley Conference, went in the favor of Robbinsville, as the Ravens defeated Hightstown 53-43.
Coming off of an impressive 65-41 victory over New Egypt prior to the winter break, Robbinsville maintained momentum Tuesday night.
Though it did not come easily, as Hightstown was in control early on.
Entering the game averaging 18-points-per game, Hightstown guard, Keenan Reiss, stuck to his script, scoring 15-points and regularly finding teammate Robert Eaves who finished the game with 16-points of his own.
But a strong ending to half number one handed Robbinsville the lead, and all of the momentum.
Junior guard Tyler Handy led Robbinsville in scoring, acting as an offensive threat throughout the entirety of the game.
“We went out there and we had fun, played a good game and we won, and that’s all that matters,” said Handy. “We have been waiting for this game for a long time.”
It was clear Hightstown’s plan was to get to the free-throw line, as the Rams found themselves there 12 times, but ended the game shooting 40%. Their inability to capitalize on their attempts certainly hurt their chances down the stretch.
