The High continued their winning ways on Tuesday night at Tornado Alley with a 72-62 victory over Allentown, marking their fourth in a row, and pushing them through to the CVC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday night. Trenton was led by their junior guard Juan
Sanchez, who finished with a 26-point performance and earned Italian People’s Bakery Player of the Game honors.
After a slow start in the first few minutes offensively, The High turned up their defensive intensity and utilized their full-court press for a number of easy transition buckets. Following a pair of missed three’s, Sanchez responded with consecutive makes from beyond the arc to spark what would end up being a 14-point first quarter for him. The Tornadoes back court would combine for 43 in the victory, with senior guard Thomas Munoz tallying a season high 17 of his own.
With the win the Tornadoes improve to 13-9 on the year, while also securing a rematch with cross-town rival Ewing on Thursday night. The familiar foes last met on January 14th with Ewing earning a 63-57 win on their home floor. The only difference this time around is Trenton holds home court advantage being the higher seed in the CVC Tournament.
