TRENTON, NJ. – With 29-seconds left in the third quarter of Tuesday night’s matchup between Trenton Central and Robbinsville, Trenton’s Davontay Hutson drove to the rim, laying in a bucket that raised his point total on the night to 17, the shot entered the senior into the schools 1,000-point club.

“I know I am the first one in a long time to reach 1,000-points here, so it really means a lot,” said Hutson.

The accolade capped off a night full of offense for the Tornadoes as they dominated Robbinsville, defeating last year’s Valley Division winner 86-43.

Robbinsville guard Tyler Handy led his team in points with 14, and was met with contributions from Luke Billings and freshman Tyler Bunnell. But their efforts were not enough to stop the onslaught they would face in the 3rd quarter.

The 3rd quarter saw Trenton Central outscore their opponent 33-8, as much of a display of dominance as you will ever see on a basketball court.

Robbinsville was unable to create much offense when faced with the high pressure defending of Trenton, turning the ball over at a high rate.

“They beat us the last 2 years, tonight our team elevated our game, we played together and we got the job done,” said Hutson.

Trenton can score from anywhere, and against Robbinsville they scored from everywhere.

The scoring was led by Antwan Bridgette, who tallied up 21-points in the win. But he was far from alone, as 8 different players found their way on to the scoring column for Trenton.

“This is the year that we have been waiting for, we have put a lot of work in and it’s paying off,” said Hutson.

Robbinsville has now suffered back-to-back losses, but both came off of the hands of an undefeated team atop their respective division, Ewing and Trenton Central.

The Ravens will look to get their season back on track in their next game against Marlboro.

Trenton Central will face Hunterdon Central next and will be looking to remain unbeaten.

At the level they are playing, it is hard to imagine their record will be blemished anytime soon.
